Current State
Egypt is making significant strides toward digital health: the universal health insurance project relies entirely on electronic records, e-prescriptions are a reality, and online booking platforms are growing at unprecedented rates. However, a significant gap remains between major cities and other governorates.
Promising Technologies
Among the most promising technologies: AI for diagnosis assistance and radiology reading, wearable devices for remote vital signs monitoring, chronic disease management apps, and blockchain for secure medical record exchange.
Challenges and Solutions
Key challenges include limited digital literacy among elderly, privacy concerns, poor internet in some areas, and resistance to change from some providers. Solutions start with awareness and training, developing simple intuitive systems, and supportive government policies.
