Allergies

Overview

The Allergies section is one of the most critical parts of your health profile. Accurate allergy records can prevent life-threatening reactions when a doctor prescribes medication or a hospital administers treatment. SehaFile classifies allergies by category and severity (mild, moderate, severe, or life-threatening), making it immediately clear which allergens pose the greatest risk.

Viewing Your Allergies

1. Navigate to Allergies -- From the bottom nav, tap "Profile", then select "Allergies". Your allergies appear as horizontal cards with severity badges.
2. Severity Color Coding -- Each allergy has a colored severity badge:
   • Red (solid) -- Life-threatening (requires immediate attention)
   • Red (medium) -- Severe reaction
   • Yellow (solid) -- Moderate reaction
   • Yellow (light) -- Mild reaction
3. Card Layout -- Each card shows the severity badge on the left, the allergen name (Arabic with English subtitle if available), and a delete button on the right.

Adding a New Allergy

1. Tap "+" to Add -- On the allergies page, tap the floating add button to navigate to the new allergy form.
2. Allergen Name (Arabic) -- Enter the substance you are allergic to in Arabic (required). Examples: "البنسلين" (Penicillin), "الفول السوداني" (Peanuts), "الغبار" (Dust).
3. Allergen Name (English) -- Optionally enter the English name for medical standardization.
4. Category -- Select the allergy category: Drug (دواء), Food (طعام), Environmental (بيئية), or Other (أخرى).
5. Severity -- Select the reaction severity:
   • Mild -- Minor symptoms like rash or itching
   • Moderate -- Notable symptoms requiring attention
   • Severe -- Serious reaction requiring medical intervention
   • Life-threatening -- Anaphylaxis risk, requires EpiPen or emergency treatment
6. Tap "Save" -- The allergy card appears with its severity badge immediately.

Deleting an Allergy

If an allergy was recorded in error or confirmed by a doctor to no longer be present, tap the "Delete" button on the allergy card. A confirmation prompt will appear before removal.

FAQ

Can I update the severity of an existing allergy?

Yes. Tap "Edit" on the allergy card to change the severity level, category, or allergen names.

Are my allergies visible to clinics automatically?

No. Clinics only see your allergies if you have granted them access through Record Sharing, or if a clinic originally recorded the allergy during a visit.

What categories of allergies are supported?

Drug allergies, food allergies, environmental allergies (pollen, dust, mold), and a general "Other" category for anything else (latex, contrast dye, etc.).
