4 min read

Overview

The Settings page is your control center for account preferences, notification management, privacy controls, and data management. Here you can change your language, manage notification preferences, control who can find you, export your data, or permanently delete your account. SehaFile respects your right to data privacy in compliance with Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law.

Settings page showing sections for profile, notifications, privacy, and danger zone

Profile Settings

  1. Access Settings -- From the "Profile" tab in the bottom navigation, scroll down and tap "Settings".
  2. Language -- Switch between Arabic and English interface. The language switcher is available at the top of the settings page. The app is fully bilingual.
  3. Change Phone Number -- Tap "Change Phone Number" to initiate a phone change process. You will need to verify ownership of the new number via OTP before the change takes effect.

Notification Preferences

  1. Appointment Reminders -- Toggle on/off SMS or push notifications for upcoming appointments.
  2. Family Link Requests -- Toggle notifications for incoming family link requests.
  3. Access Alerts -- Toggle notifications when someone accesses your shared records.
  4. System Updates -- Toggle notifications for platform updates and new features.

Privacy Controls

  1. Profile Visibility -- Control whether clinics can find your profile by National ID when you visit. If disabled, clinics must manually enter your data.
  2. Emergency Card Active/Inactive -- Toggle your emergency card on or off globally. When inactive, your QR code shows a "Card not active" message.
  3. Access Log -- Quick link to view who has accessed your records (same as the Access Log in Record Sharing).

Data Management

  1. Export My Data -- Download your complete health profile as a JSON file. See the Data Export article for details.
  2. Storage Usage -- View how much storage your uploaded documents are using (tracked in bytes from your profile's storage_used_bytes field).

Account Deletion (Danger Zone)

  1. Find "Delete Account" -- At the bottom of Settings, in a red-bordered "Danger Zone" section, you will find the "Delete My Account" button.
  2. Confirmation -- Tapping the button shows a confirmation dialog explaining what will be deleted. You must confirm by typing your phone number.
  3. What Gets Deleted -- All your data is permanently removed:
    • Profile information
    • Medical conditions, medications, allergies
    • Visit history and lab results
    • Uploaded documents (files deleted from storage)
    • Emergency card and QR code
    • Family links and sharing grants
    • Access logs
  4. Irreversible -- Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Your National ID becomes available for a new registration.

Tip: Before deleting your account, use "Export My Data" to download a copy of all your health records. Once deleted, there is no way to recover any information.

Warning: Account deletion is immediate and irreversible. All family links will be severed, all sharing grants revoked, and your emergency QR code will stop working. Make sure this is what you want before confirming.

FAQ

Can I temporarily deactivate my account instead of deleting it?

Currently, SehaFile does not support account deactivation. You can disable the emergency card and revoke all sharing grants as a middle ground while keeping your data intact.

What happens to clinic records about me if I delete my account?

Clinics retain their own copies of visit records from their system. Deletion only removes data from the SehaFile citizen platform. The clinic's internal patient records are not affected.

How long before my data is fully deleted?

Data deletion begins immediately upon confirmation. Files are removed from storage within 24 hours. Database records are purged immediately.

Can I re-register after deleting my account?

Yes. After deletion, you can create a new account with the same National ID. However, all previous data is permanently lost and cannot be restored.
