Create reusable imaging order templates for common radiological examinations
Overview
Imaging order templates streamline the process of ordering radiological examinations by bundling common imaging requests into reusable templates. Each template specifies the imaging type (X-ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound), body part, clinical indication, and priority level. Templates are particularly useful for standardized protocols like trauma series or pre-surgical imaging.
Creating an Imaging Template
- Navigate to Settings > Templates > Imaging — Access through the Settings page.
- Click "New Imaging Template" — The form appears.
- Name the template — Enter name_ar and name_en (e.g., "سلسلة صدمات الطرف السفلي" / "Lower Limb Trauma Series").
- Select specialty — Choose the relevant clinical specialty.
- Add imaging orders — For each order in the template:
- Imaging type — Select: X-ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Mammography, Fluoroscopy
- Body part — Specify the anatomical region (e.g., "Knee - Left", "Chest PA")
- Priority — Normal, Urgent, or Emergency
- Clinical indication — The reason for the study (e.g., "Rule out fracture")
- Notes — Any special preparation or instructions
- Set sharing and save — Toggle is_shared and click Save.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I specify contrast requirements in the template?
Yes. Use the notes field to indicate "With contrast" or "Without contrast" for CT and MRI orders. The referring facility will see these instructions.
Are imaging templates specialty-filtered?
Yes. During a visit, templates are filtered by the doctor's specialty by default. You can remove the filter to see all available templates.
